Gluten-Free Donuts, Just How Homer Simpson Would Like Them

Everyone loves donuts, right? If you maintain a gluten-free diet, it never means you need to miss out on donuts. Certainly not. Here is a little spin on a traditional donut we’re sure you’ll absolutely love.

We’re sure if Homer Simpson were gluten-free, he wouldn’t miss out either. If you’re looking to make donuts to fill all donut cravings from now until forever then, this easy-to-follow recipe will satisfy all your desires with these simply delicious donuts.
Suitable for vegetarians and vegans too. That’s right. We’d never forget our vegan and egg-intolerant friends.

Apple Cider Vinegar

You’ll notice below apple cider vinegar is an ingredient in these donuts, and this gives it a little healthy kick just for you. We like to look after our customer’s health and wellbeing and your bellies too. Apple cider vinegar helps to lower blood sugar levels and fight diabetes, helps to lower cholesterol and improves your heart health. It’s a win-win ingredient, wouldn’t you agree?

So we invite you to have a go at making these glorious donuts which are low in fat and good for your body too.


1 cup oat flour

1 cup buckwheat flour

1/2 cup sugar, either cane, coconut or brown

1 tsp of baking soda

2 bananas

1 cup of coconutmilk

1 tbsp apple cider vinegar

1 x olive oil


I x donut pan

1 x oven

1 x mixing bowl

1 x wooden spoon

1  x blender


  1. Heat your oven to 200ºC.
  2. Place the buckwheat flour, sugar, oat flour and baking soda in a mixing bowl and stir. Set aside.
  3. Blend the milk, bananas and vinegar in a blender and then put it into the mixing bowl.
  4. Mix all ingredients together until combined
  5. Lightly oil the donut pan with olive oil spray
  6. Fill each donut crevice in the pan about ¾ full with the donut mixture
  7. Bake for about 15 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. Remove from the oven and let the donuts cool for a few minutes before removing them from the pan.
  9. Once removed, let them cool for a while longer entirely on a wire rack.

Optional Vanilla Vegan Donut Glaze


1 ½ cups powdered sugar

3 tablespoons coconut milk

1 tablespoon vanilla extract


In a mixing bowl simply whisk together the powdered sugar, coconut milk and vanilla extract. Dip the donut, let them rest a while and allow the glaze to harden.
